There have been numerous incarnations of bars at this Friar Street address, but it's safe to say that Muse is probably the best so far.
The owners have created a funky space with cool and comfortable seating and low lighting, with shades of blue and red, to add to the ambience.
Like most bars in Reading town centre, Muse tends to get packed out with a young crowd at weekends, but midweek it does attract a few after office drinkers of all ages.
The bar staff are generally friendly and were very apologetic when they served up a flat pint on one of our visits. The place feels clean and tidy and the toilets were in good order.
While this bar is nothing spectacular, you could do a lot worse then stop here for a couple of drinks.
