The Hole in the Wall is a divisive pub that you’ll either love or hate depending on your tastes and mood.

Literally built into a railway arch, this place resembles the rough and ready sort of venue you’d find in small towns up and down the country.

The front bar is small and traditional while there is a larger rear bar that resembles a brightly lit hall.

Many people cite the Hole in the Wall as a London institution, and to be fair its beers are always highly praised. But if you’re not a real ale freak you may find it a bit grotty and uninspiring.

Most nights this place is packed with commuters on de-stress through alcohol missions, but occasionally you do get the odd tourist who has wandered off the beaten track.

Ideal if you’re waiting for a train or heading back home after work because of its close proximity to Waterloo station, but not recommended for any other occasion.
